Verizon just doesn’t get it.

The best explanation I’ve seen for why Apple chose AT&T over Verizon.  Even if they were allowed to do it, AT&T would get KILLED if they tried to cut out the App Store.  The system may have its quirks, but it gets the job done.  Ian Paul at PC World describes it almost like the nail in the coffin for a Verizon iPhone deal:

I think it’s a safe bet that Verizon’s app store will make it very difficult for the post-AT&T iPhone to make the jump to “America’s Largest and Most Reliable Network.”

I just have one question: What “post AT&T iPhone”? No other carrier will be able to touch the iPhone for at least another 2 years if not longer, Apple simply won’t allow it.

iPhones for Verizon? Keep Dreaming

Apple COO Tim Cook:

CDMA doesn’t really have a life to it after a point in time.

The longer that Verizon squeezes its customers for each nickel and dime, and disables hardware features that OEM’s build into handsets, the longer they go without an iPhone in their lineup.  Even with the transition to 4G technology (LTE) things don’t look good.  Verizon may want Apple, but Apple certainly doesn’t want Verizon and they are better for it.
