Things GTD
After trying to find a way to make up for not being able to sync To-Do’s natively (It’s already been done for Notes, To-Do’s seems like a logical next step…) and not being satisfied with the choices, I came across Things by Cultured Code. At first, everything worked well, basic functionality and even some advanced sorting features – Project support and Tags – were there. Thinking about the problem a bit more, there’s one place where the app still can’t compete with the heavyweights of the category: support for the Getting Things Done productivity method. I looked at OmniFocus – the heavyweight of iPhone To-Do apps and evangelized by one Merlin Mann – but it’s probably more than I need at this point. Instead I would really like to see something like an advanced ‘GTD Mode’ with support for Contexts (Use tags in ‘Basic’ mode and ‘Contexts’ for GTD). Cultured Code has a solid base to build on, I just hope they keep listening to the feedback and find ways to improve the app to serve those who can’t make use of (or don’t need) all the features of a full GTD solution.
Customers Angered as iPhones Overload AT&T
Jenna Wortham, writing for the New York Times:
AT&T might be in the spotlight now, analysts say, but other carriers will face similar problems as they sell more smartphones, laptop cards and eventually tablets that encourage high data usage.
Finally common sense prevails over pointless outrage.
AP Mobile News comes up short
The only words I have to describe this are:
1. Buggy (Still feels like a beta most of the time)
2. Incomplete (NYT or WSJ offer more features, Bloomberg is more focused)
3. Slow (MAJOR work is needed in this area)
Overall, I’m disappointed as the app does nothing to show off the Push Notification Service and is well below the level of quality that is expected of the AP. Until major improvements are made, it no longer has (or deserves) a place on my iPhone.
Fix for Wi-Fi problems after iPhone 3.0 upgrade
I thought something was weird when I first upgraded my iPhone 3G to 3.0; Wi-Fi ceased to exist for a short period of time. Like the other times our router has started to act up, the only explanation I have for this is “voodoo”. Excuse me while I go fix this…

AT&T Video for the iPhone 3GS
I’m sitting this year out (can’t upgrade) and waiting for the 3.0 software next week, but at least this is better than last year’s attempt at making sure people are “Ready to buy an iPhone”.
Myst for iPhone
I first played this (and the follow-up, Riven) on a Gateway 2000 some 15 years ago. After all that time, I’m still hooked. Cyan has a great opportunity now to bring the other 2 titles in the series to the iPhone platform. $6 on the App Store.
