I thought this was supposed to be easy…

If Macs are generally considered to be easy to use, someone forgot to mention it to a few of the faculty members at Rider.

Easy to Use?

I know that some professors and instructors may not be THAT familiar with Apple hardware, but reminding people where stuff like the power button and the optical drive are seems weird.  There’s only one place to insert a disc on the machine, where else would the drive go?  The reference to dual-booting is understandable, but is there any reason to have “MAC” on the sign?

Just a thought.

iPhones for Verizon? Keep Dreaming

leave a comment »

Apple COO Tim Cook:

CDMA doesn’t really have a life to it after a point in time.

The longer that Verizon squeezes its customers for each nickel and dime, and disables hardware features that OEM’s build into handsets, the longer they go without an iPhone in their lineup.  Even with the transition to 4G technology (LTE) things don’t look good.  Verizon may want Apple, but Apple certainly doesn’t want Verizon and they are better for it.

How to Hide Your Twitter Habit From the Boss

leave a comment »

Good idea, but I still don’t get the point of a desktop Twitter client if:

  1. The website is 1 click away.
  2. People in corporate environments or otherwise that have to operate with limited user accounts still can’t install software.  A mobile app or website are really the only choices they have for getting a Twitter fix.

As far  as #2 is concerned, this helps, but I still think the mobile website or a standalone mobile app is the way to go.

There is still hope out there for new grads, but this certainly isn’t a good sign.

RIM gets it?

leave a comment »

RIM CEO Mike Lazaridis talking about the Blackberry Storm with Laptop Mag:

That’s our first touch product, and you know nobody gets it perfect out the door. You know other companies were having problems with their first releases.

Um, Mike?… The iPhone did get it right the first time.  It’s true that features were missing (and we’re still waiting on some that may not come until after 3.0), but at least Multi-touch WORKED.  Find me one review of the Storm that actually praises the touchscreen, THEN talk to reporters.
